Responding to Emotionally Disturbed Persons A Manual For Law Enforcement Personnel
ISBN 0-9661970-7-0 Published 2003
Mental illness, crisis, suicide, death, and other topics discussed in this text are inherent in our lives.
However, for those individuals in law enforcement, encountering death, violence, trauma, crisis, and those with mental illness is an
everyday occurrence.
This publication is intended to bring information to the law enforcement community about dealing with those individuals who
present to the officer in distress. It is not intended to replace the need for professional therapeutic and/or psychiatric assistance.
And, it is definitely not intended to create counselors or social workers out of cops! Due to the interdisciplinary and comprehensive
issues discussed, it is highly recommended this text be used in conjunction with law enforcement classes or for ones own personal
information.
